carbamazepine oral will decrease the level or effect of norethindrone acetate-ethinyl estradiol oral by altering drug metabolism. This combination reduces the effect of the hormonal contraceptive and may increase incidence of menstruation associated adverse effects.

carbamazepine oral will decrease the level or effect of norethindrone acetate-ethinyl estradiol oral by affecting hepatic/intestinal enzyme CYP3A4 metabolism. Avoid coadministration unless benefit outweighs risk. When coadministered, hormonal contraceptives are not a reliable method of effective birth control. Concomitant use may increase incidence of menstruation associated adverse effects (amenorrhea, dysmenorrhea, menorrhagia).
