morphine rect and prasugrel oral

morphine rect will decrease the level or effect of prasugrel oral by inhibition of GI absorption. Applies only to oral form of both agents. Coadministration of opioid agonists delay and reduce the absorption of prasugrel’s active metabolite presumably because of slowed gastric emptying. Consider using a parenteral antiplatelet agent in acute coronary syndrome patients requiring coadministration of morphine or other opioid agonists. Risks associated with other opioids are unknown.
