Are Dymista and Nasacort AQ the Same Thing?
Dymista (azelastine hydrochloride and fluticasone propionate) Nasal Spray and Nasacort AQ (triamcinolone acetonide) are used to relieve symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis.
Both Dymista and Nasacort AQ contain a corticosteroid. Dymista also contains an antihistamine.
Side effects of Dymista and Nasacort AQ that are similar include changes in taste/unpleasant taste, headache, and nosebleeds.
Side effects of Dymista that are different from Nasacort AQ include sores or white patches inside or around your nose, slow wound healing, and nasal Candida albicans infection.
Side effects of Nasacort AQ that are different from Dymista include nose/throat dryness or irritation, cough, sneezing after use of the medicine, stinging or burning in your nose, sore throat, stuffy nose, watery eyes, nausea, vomiting, and unpleasant smell.
Dymista may interact with ritonavir, ketoconazole, alcohol, and other central nervous system depressants.
Nasacort AQ may interact with cancer medicine (chemotherapy), cyclosporine, sirolimus, tacrolimus, basiliximab, efalizumab, muromonab-CD3, mycophenolate mofetil, azathioprine, leflunomide, etanercept, and other steroids.

Dymista (azelastine hydrochloride and fluticasone propionate) Nasal Spray is a combination of an antihistamine and a corticosteroid indicated for the relief of symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis in patients 12 years of age and older who require treatment with both azelastine hydrochloride and fluticasone propionate for symptomatic relief.
What Is Nasacort AQ?
Nasacort AQ (triamcinolone acetonide) Nasal Spray is a nasal (for the nose) steroid used to treat sneezing, itching, and runny nose caused by seasonal allergies or hay fever. Nasacort AQ is available in generic form.
What Drugs Interact With Dymista?
Dymista may interact with ritonavir, ketoconazole, alcohol, or other central nervous system depressants.
How Should Dymista be Taken?
The recommended dose of Dymista is 1 spray per nostril twice daily in adults and adolescents 12 years of age and older.
How Should Nasacort AQ be Taken?
The recommended starting and maximum dose for adults and children 12 and older is 220 mcg per day as two sprays in each nostril once daily. When symptoms are controlled, reducing the dose to 110 mcg per day (one spray in each nostril once a day) can be effective to control symptoms. Pediatric dose for children 2 to 12 is 110 mcg per day given as one spray in each nostril once daily.
