Prescribed for heavy periods affecting iron levels. Experienced almost constant bleeding in the form of daily spotting, extra periods, and extended-length periods. Was on it for 3 months until my gynecologist decided I needed to come in for an emergency appointment due to a period that had lasted 2 weeks and had 3 days of heavy clotting. During the 3 months I was on this my pad usage more than quadrupled and my tampon usage tripled. I also began to experience acne breakouts on my forehead the last couple of weeks of use.

HORRIBLE! First off my doctor didn't even really explain this "mini pill" to me until I researched it. But I was on this joke of medication for about 2 months after I had my son. And it made me stop producing milk and then I immediately got pregnant after . So now I have to deal with that and waste more money . Also if you are above 150lbs I recommend doubling up on birth control. Like condoms with birth control pill. The pill loses some effectiveness if you are above 150lbs.

I started taking ortho micronor almost 3 years ago. Due to having history of stoke in my family, my doctor doesn’t want me on birth control that contains estrogen. I am young and never have been pregnant, and don’t want to be. Thankfully this pill has been very effective for me. Have even taken it late several times, still never been pregnant (I strongly advise against taking it late though, as you have a 3 hour window and you can potentially ovulate.) I’ve had no side effects other than gaining about 30 pounds the past 3 years and spotting/bleeding between periods. This birth control works for me and I will stick to it.

Well I wish I had read these reviews before trying this new birth control. My doctor recommended it to minimize side effects associated with other pills. I got pregnant within months of switching. My doctor said it was because I must've taken a dose at the wrong time. True, I didn't realize there was only a three hour window. This is different than every other type of birth control pill!!!! And this important difference is not highlighted in patient training in my experience. Now I've taken the pill religiously for last two months, and I just found out I am pregnant again! I am devastated. This birth-control is not effective. Beware. Please note that I took Ocella and Ortho Tri-Cyclen for over 22 years before making the switch. I never had any problems. Do not trust this pill!

Previous to taking micro orthanor i tried the mirena and 2 different combo bc pills. I had terrible, terrible migraines, had kind of like a psychotic attitude, depression, mood swings, and no doctor i had seen could tell me why. Those things weren't really normal for me. I switched doctors and she told me it was likely the estrogen making me have all those symptoms and reccomended ortho micranor. Keep in mind my migraines were about twice a week. Once i started the mini pill i never had another migraine. Headaches? I sure did have those but no migraines. Also, no pregnancy as of yet and it stopped me from my usual debilatating cramps, ovary cysts, and severe bleeding plus a shorter period so in those respects the pill is good. But i had so many side effects on the negative side. Terrible weight gain, depression, absolutely no sex drive. Vaginal dryness, cystic acne (never had acne before),moodiness, emotional, easy to anger, and once a year usually around july i skip my period for 2 to 3 months. I have been on this medication coming up on 3 years straight. To me its a lesser of 3 evils. Estrogen birth contol is bad for headaches, no birth control and i feel like im dying every period and the random cyst here and there.

I've been taking this pill daily for 9 months and I'm not pregnant so I'd definitely say it's effective. Haven't had any negative side effects or mood swings except a longer and heavier period the first month. The only downside is the small time frame you need to take the pill in. There was one time I missed the pill by a few hours and needed to take Plan B as a backup so I'll probably look into switching to an IUD soon.

In terms of treating my symptoms I was getting from my periods; very heavy, bad back pain, spots etc, it helped me loads with that and also helped me to gain muscle more easily, helping my sport. However it gave me sudden depression, insomnia and I was very paranoid, so came off it asap and took me a while for my mind to return to its normal state and reasoning.

I was put on this medication to control my periods. Over the past year I started missing periods and then finally a month before I started this pill I had 2 periods in one month. So enough was enough. I have now only been on this for 2 months and I am more depressed then I've ever been. My emotions are at a all time high. I cry over everything and I get easily angered. I have never been this type of person so it has really changed my mood. My periods seem to be regular again which is why I'm on it in the first place. All in all it does its job, but what every pill comes a dozen side effects. Each person is different. In my case, its changed my personality, my care for life and others.

The first 5 weeks of moderate breakthrough bleeding were rough, and I almost gave up on this pill. But it finally subsided, and everything is regulated now. Otherwise, I have experienced NO mood swings/weight gain/acne issues with this pill and am very satisfied. I hope this review is helpful as I have looked upon everyone else's reviews for support for those first 5 weeks.

I was put on Micronor because I have suffered from migraines my entire life. Every other pill I had been on gave me migraines almost daily. When I finally switched to Micronor I found my migraines decreasing (although I still get them before my period or a few other times). The only side effect I found I had was worse skin aka pimples in my hormonal spots like on my chin. I asked my doctor if there was a different pill for me and she said would you rather have less migraines or a few pimples. I stayed on it and have to say I love it. She also warned me that my periods would be erratic which they are but I know that when I get my cramps I'm fine! Over all if you suffer from severe migraines I would say give it a shot and ask your doctor for something to help ease the pain of those migraines that you do end up getting. I use either frova or relpax.

I started taking this because I did NOT want to take estrogen. I am very pleased and have been on this for about 7 months. The main side effect was break through bleeding, which was about the first 3 months. There was one incident I had 3 weeks between a 3day period. My boobs have not gotten bigger, and I didn't want them to because I already have DD. There is a little more acne right before a period. I already had this problem without the pill so it isn't a huge deal. My periods are not as "on time" as they were previously, but my periods only last around 3 days. I would recommend this pill. There was a few months I didn't have a period and was afraid I would be pregnant but luckily I was just period free for two months! Try it!

Had no problems with micronor and have been on it for year and a half, however it is useless as I have just found out I am pregnant! I take this religiously and I am devastated - stupid pill!!!!!

I have had no side effects, except for no longer getting my period. I have been on this pill for almost 8 months now. I have not had any spotting or break through bleeding, which I had feared after reading reviews. No weight gain either!

Try it!

What I have to say is looks lengthy but I hope you can find patience to read it. I have just s started taking micronor. And recently started experiencing breakthrough bleeding. At first I was accepting and understanding that changes will occur because I have introduced different levels of hormones into my body system. The bleeding didn’t stop for almost 4 weeks I became a bit worried. So I turned to online forums to see how other women were reacting to this pill. But every review I was reading was so negative, honestly scary. Other than breakthrough bleeding I am doing well, so far, Reading those reviews offered ENOUGH STRESS to probably induce all those symptoms I was reading about. I want to offer my experience and my theory on this matter. Taking contraceptive pills should be taken as serious as any other medication. It isn’t just a little pill to be taken in step with your current lifestyle. Hormone manipulation is serious business and can have detrimental side effects. Therefore, I THINK, while taking the pill you SHOULD TRY taking other extra steps to help balance the changes in your body (not as a cure-all!). THIS IS JUST MY THEORY, I AM NOT A MEDICAL PHYSISIAN AT ALL! I have started taking extra vitamins to help amp up my entire system. For example, I am worried about the acne side effect of this pill, so I am taking certain vitamins that promote healthy skin, hair and nail. Also, I am worried about mood swings i.e. mental functions, so I have found a vitamin high in Folic acid, iron, zinc. I did some research to find out with kind of vitamins help support different systems in my body.Like I said.. THESE ARE JUST MY THEORIES, I AM NOT A MEDICAL PHYSISIAN AT ALL! And you should check with your own Physician before taking any of these vitamins I have listed. You need to be aware of your body, how it works, and what deficiencies, if any, that you, might have.

When I had stopped using the Depo shot because of my massive weight gain, my doctor had told me to use Ortho Micronor because I have migraines. The first 3 weeks, I was fine, the next week or so I started gaining cystic acne and before I was on the Depo shot (and during) I had clear and healthy skin. I was so shocked, of how bad my face is now. I hate this product so much, it took a toll on me. I am also diagnosed with depression so every time I go out I get so insecure about my face and the cystic acne makes me cry every night. Girls, PLEASE do not take this product! The pain is really bad, and I am spending so much money on my Dermatologist. Please save yourself and do not take this product.

I was put on this medication a few months ago when I was diagnosed with high blood pressure. Prior to taking this, I was on a combination birth control pill. I experienced spotting in between my periods but it was very light and only lasted a day or so. No biggie. However, I have now been bleeding for over a month with only a four day break in between. I will be calling my doctor tomorrow to make an appt. for a med check. This is ridiculous. The painful cramps and excessive passing of clots is the worst I've ever had. Needless to say, I'm coming off of these pills and looking for other birth control options. There is one positive. They never caused weight gain as some other methods have done. Everyone reacts to medications differently but it appears that many people have had issues with this med.

Well, I was on this med for 3yrs. I was told that it was normal to not have a period while taking it so I never thought much of it. After stopping, I bled for the first 2 months then not again since without having to take provera to give me my period. It's been 2 full years since stopping this pill. Before I ever went on BC I had a cycle like clockwork. I could predict the hour it'd start. I never expected this to happen. I'd have rather gotten pregnant when I was in my early 20s, than this situation where I'm not sure if I'll ever have kids. If you can take combination BC...do.

My doctor switched me to this nine months ago to combat uncharacteristically high blood pressure. While it prevented pregnancy, my primary concern, the side effects were horrendous. The first month, I was a walking nightmare emotionally. I felt anger and rage most of the first month, sometimes for no reason. It wasn't until very recently that I realized it was Micronor, but since starting it, I've experienced weight gain, horrible cystic acne and other less painful but equally embarrassing and impossible to treat acne, not to mention the infuriating "breakthrough bleeding" that mimicked a normal period. This was a TERRIBLE experience.
