Definition of Perfluorinated acid

Perfluorinated acid: A type of chemical that repels water and oil and is resistant to heat and chemical stress. Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and other perfluorinated acids have been used in the manufacturing process of many products, including Teflon and Gore-Tex, and are used to make polymers for aircraft and electronics. Perfluorinated acids do not degrade and are now widely distributed in food and in human blood samples.
