Dr. Shah obtained his BA/MD from Boston University and completed his Otolaryngology residency at Tufts University followed by a fellowship in Pediatric Otolaryngology at Children's Hospital Boston at Harvard University. After fellowship, he joined the faculty of Children's National Medical Center in 2006. Dr. Shah is an active clinical researcher and has received numerous awards for his research. His research interests include resource utilization and outcomes, patient safety, and medical errors. He is recognized as a leader in patient safety and quality improvement within Otolaryngology and is active within the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery with these initiatives as he co-chairs their Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Committee in addition to serving on several other national committees related to patient safety and quality improvement. He is director of the voice clinic at Children's National Medical Center, and has additional specific clinical interests in head and neck masses and sinus surgery. He is the Medical Director of Peri-operative Services in the Center for Surgical Care at Children's National Medical Center and the President-Elect of the Medical Staff at Children's National Medical Center.
