I am 77 years old, active and in good physical condition. Avodart reduce PSA from0.7 to 0.3, with a great price. My body hair all disappeared, hair on head was thinning, exacerbated ED (PDE-% drugs were not always effective), total disappearance of semen. Have been off for three months, all conditions are improving.

Had very large prostate for my age. Desire to urinate 3 to 4 times a night. Hard to drive home from work without stopping at rest area to urinate. I've been taking Avodart for 12 months as of now. I sleep through the night without getting up. No problem driving home. Flow of urine is much better. Side effects: I've had trouble with sexual desire. I can still get it up but ejaculate is minimal. Used to have sex daily and now it is weekly. My breasts have grown so I have increased my exercise but can't lose weight and building muscle has become more difficult. This drug really does present extreme pros and cons. I'm not sure what will happen if I stop taking it. Will my libido come back? Will my appetite abate? Will my chest shrink back to normal?

Been on Avodart for 5 months, positive results in urination problems and reduction in size of prostate. Am not pleased with the loss of sex drive and difficulty in attaining & sustaining an erection. VERY FRUSTATING to me and somewhat for my wife. While I am 66, until taking Avodart, we had an excellent sexual, love life. Sexual ability is almost non-existant now. Am considering not taking Avodart for a while and see what happens!!!

I am 79 years old, and have taken Avodart for four years. Big reduction in PSA, and I getup only twice during the night to pee. The difficulty comes from the side effects which are serious for me. Enlarged breasts, penis has all but disappeared, no semen production and an erection would be a miracle. More importantly is the soreness in my joints, constant tiredness and loss of energy. None of these were present four years ago. Flomax was ineffective. I also notice a marked amount of muscle atrophy though I am in body building still after many years of serious lifting. I am going to discontinue the drug, sit back and see what happens. I am hoping my boobs get smaller, my urination is not hampered drastically and my energy and sex drive return.

I have had an BPH for about 5 years now. I used Flomax for most of that time until I realized my pains in the back of my uppe legs was due to the Flomax. I began on Avodart almost a year ago and dropped the Flomax after a month of taking both. The prostate shrunk down in size and my last PSA was under 1, so the doctor is veery happy. The problem is almost total impotence and loss of libido. My wife doesn't think the impotence could be from the medicine so she keeps trying. An erection is very long in coming and then is rarely firm enough for penetration. Orgasms take forever and ejaculation is somewhat reduced. On top of all this, my breasts are the size of a teenage girl. Before beginning treatment with this drug, I was somewhat overweight, but now I can't even begin to control the weight effectively. I will discuss this with my doctor again and hopefully we can discontinue it's useage and replace with some better choice.

with 6 months of treatment this has cut psa by over half. I'm taking this in conjunction with flomax and the reduction in sex drive and erectile problems are tough to deal with. But overall the problems with urination have disappeared. A tough trade off.

I'm 63 years old. Doctor added this to Flomax for urination problems and to control high PSA 6 months ago. PSA has been reduced, urination problems are gone, but I have lost all sex drive, can barely achieve erection (and can't maintain it when I do), no semen upon ejaculation, some increase in breast size, penis has shrunk and I have gained weight. I am going back to the doctor next week and will tell him I am discontinuing this drug.

I have taken Avodart for over two years, with little or no positive results. Has not affected sex drive but has reduced ejaculate. Has caused breast swelling. Besides prostrate shrinkage, my wife and I call it "shrinker", it has definately shrunk my penis. Stopped taking about a month ago, never more.

I ame 62 yrs old and retired, I had problems with urinating, needing to go right away and seepage. though the frequest urination and seepage has stopped (take with detrol) I found that my erections were difficult to attain and not as hard and the duration was very short, seman quantity was low also. (very fustrating for both of us) I took the meds for 18 months and stopped both meds now for 6 days and found erections were stronger and of longer duration I am amazed at the quick recovery. and I haven,t had any urinating problems. I suppose I will continue the meds if the condition returns. Its good to know that recovery of sexual drive and erection are possible.....

Although Avodart reduced the frequency of my urination, it also decreased my libido severely and virtually prevented me from having an erection. I discontinued the drug after speaking to my physician, however, at 6 weeks later, the side effects still persist!

User for 24 months. PSA went down from 10.11 to 1.75. Prostate much smaller. Do have prostate stones. Semen flow reduced but functional. Erections need Viagara. Urination problems cured about 90%. Would recommend use.

Started taking after Flowmax was not very helpful. Still getting up 1 or 2 times a night (less than before however). The biggest problem is no practical erection and extremely difficult to reach orgasm if at all. Dribble of ejaculate if I ever do reach orgasm. Been taking Avodart 9 months, Flowmax 14 months. Still taking both. Must speak to my doctor about this as it is very frustrating.

Have been on Avodart for a little over four months. Have experienced loss of sex drive and an inability to achieve orgasm. Doesn't seem like the medication is improving my urinary symptoms. At my next doctor's visit, will be discussing with him discontinuing medication.

Avodart did not produce an improvement in urine flow for me. However it reduced my semen quantity to almost nothing which I didn't like.

76 year old been on drug for 3 years. It worked initially for urination ease, but it has absolutely ended my sex life. Erection is possible, but not long enough. I've lost nearly all my body hair. A rare orgasm produces almost no semen, but then my also 76 year old wife and I aren't trying to get pregnant. I still get up at least twice a night to urinate and have to know the location of every restroom in every business we use. Long trips in our car require me to have a portable urinal. It is probably past time, but I am goint to ask my doctor for something different. Does anyone know if there is a medication without loss of sex drive, good urination and no loss of body hair. I'd pay a lot for it.

Been taking med for about 3 yrs. Took about 3 months to notice results, so it's slow acting. Lowered psa from 10 to 4. Urination much better, but loss of sex drive bothering. Also started dribbling urine at night when I didn't wake up to go. Stopped taking med about two months ago and leaking has stopped. Will not take again until I see my Urinologist in three months.

Avodart did not have a striking effect on ease of urination. It did make me almost entirely unable to make love to my wife. Worse still, that effect did not disappear when I stopped taking the medication, as I expected. Low dose cialis restore a tolerable level of sexual function. Nowhere did I see a warning that the impotence effect cold be permanent.

Complete loss of sex drive, erectile problems, reduced semen quantity, enlarged brests, growing a lot of hair back on my bald head, reduced PSA from 5 to 2.5 in 24 months, did not help urination frequency at night much. Will as doctor if I can stop use for a while to see what happens to these side effects.

Using product for 30 months, some improvement in urinating after 6 months. No noticeable change since, reduction in sex drive, semen, and lack of interest in sex. I have discontinued product as of this date.

I can finally sleep through most of the night. I have more energy each day, and I don't plan my travels based on bathrooms.

Have been using Avodart for approx. 8 months. Swelling breasts, loss of sex drive, loss of hardness, with no ejacation. But using Cialis for that problem. But my running to to the toilet has decreased, when I do go I do urinate freely. Still getting up twice a night to urinate. Which is down from 5 to 7 times of false alerts. Question I have is Adovart a Testosterone blocker?

I took Avodart for about one year. The results are almost like castration on sexual drive and ability. I've been off of it for two years and the sex drive did not come back and my BPH did not improve enough to keep me from having to get surgery. My recomendation, DO NOT TAKE AVODART.
