After the first dose I developed a bad headache, I had to take a pain med to sleep. I also had body aches, low grade fever, nausea and a generalized flu- like syndrome. Thank goodness today is my last dose, I’ll never take it again.

Side effects: Chills, fever, pain in hands like a bladder infection, fever. Thought at first it was a breakthrough Covid from vaccine. Neg covid test. Didn't think about side effects from this horrible prescription until took last pill on day 7. Will NEVER take this again. My side effects have put me on the couch for 3 days straight starting day 5 on Fri. Likely to miss work tomorrow.

I had 2 uti’s in 6 weeks. First time I took it I developed a fever and cough the last day of treatment. I didn’t think it was related. I got tested for Covid which was negative. I took it again for my second uti, had a fever of 102, terrible cough, shortness of breath and vomiting, my antibiotic was switched and again was Covid negative. I have had a cough for 5 days and am worried it may be something that I will have to deal with for a while. This is terrible to take a drug that has pulmonary side effects. It isn’t safe.

I took this for treatment of a suspected UTI after bladder pain and urgency continued after first treatment with a different medicine. I was given a prescription for 7 days at 2 times a day. I took my first one that evening of being prescribed it. The next morning I was unusually cold but didn't think much of it. I took my morning dose and the cold turned into shaking chills, like one would get with a bad fever but without the fever, just bone-rattling, freezing chills. I thought about it and decided that since this was the only thing different that I did, that I would discontinue it and call my doctor the next day. I spent that initial day in bed and half of the next day, at which point my symptoms (shaking chills) subsided and I felt well enough to do other things. I can only think it was this that caused such a sudden onset of such vigorous freezing chills and lethargy. I took a total of 2 doses only, and had such a strange reaction. I'd recommend anyone prescribed this to seriously look at the potential side effects from multiple sources, as having such bad chills and lethargy were pretty mild compared to what it could have been. I'm thankful I didn't continue the full course of this stuff.

DO NOT TAKE THIS! After my second pill, I had severe stomach cramps, fever and nausea. The worst was the watery diarrhea that would not stop even after I quit taking the med. I could not eat or drink anything without going to the toilet. I fainted while trying to get back to my bed - I was so dehydrated and out of it. I went to the ER and Dr gave me Zofran to stop the diarrhea. DO NOT TAKE MACROBID!!!

Short story: I took the medication all 7 days, twice daily and it eliminated the UTI. Long story: I went to the doctor because the UTI was progressing where I felt awful all over. I began the Macrobid and began to feel even worse. My side effects were weakness, fatigue, headache, nausea, diarrhea, overall body pain like the flu. Misery. Not sure if the benefits outweigh the side effects. Will Pursue home remedy next time.

This medication worked really well for my chronic bladder infections. However, I developed a chronic cough which has led to breathing complications and now being treated for minor lung issues. My new doctor told me had I stayed on the medication I could have had permanent severe lung issues. Use this drug with caution, although it worked well for me I now have to be treated with a different antibiotic.

I get anxious about taking meds I haven't had before, so the reviews on this were terrifying but it worked really well for me. I started feeling a bit wobbly and sick when I tried to be active but when I took it easy I had no side effects except a slight stomach ache now and then. Cleared up my infection in three days, would take again if I needed to.

I hate all antibiotics. When you're trying to get rid of one problem, they make get more. I was prescribed Marcobid 100mg twice a day for five days. It got rid of the burning when peeing but I have a decreased appetite, my stomach feels bloated and like I just ate a full course thanksgiving dinner that never goes away. I feel a little nauseous. I want to stop taking this medicine. I just hope that the uti doesn't come back. I'm allergic to Bactrim and Cipro. I wish there was a more effective way of getting rid of a UTI other than drugs. I hate taking drugs because of their side effects.

I rarely, if ever leave a review for much. But after my experience taking this antibiotic, I am going on as many sites as I can to inform others about this drug. I was prescribed 100mg of Microbid every 12 hours for 7 days for a UTI. I am not sensitive to antibiotics I have taken in the past, i.e. amoxicillin, Cipro, Z-pack. However, this antibiotic made me feel awful. I didn't see any change in my UTI symptoms for a couple of days (in the past, an antibiotic normally starts working the first 24 hours). I took this medicine with food and tried to drink as much water as possible. I had terrible nausea to the point that I was gagging and vomiting. The first morning after taking my first dose I had a bad headache, and had to take Advil for that each day I was on the medication. By Day 3, I was weak, nauseas, couldn't eat ANYTHING and could barely get out of bed. I couldn't work, eat, or even put a load of laundry into the washer without feeling weak. Yes, my symptoms of the UTI were gone, so it was working, but I felt absolutely awful. I was also sleepy and slept 10-11 hours a night when I was on it. Finally on Day 5 I felt so sick that I called my doctor to see if he would prescribe something for the nausea and he told me to stop taking it. What a relief! I will never take this medication again. For reference I am 5'3 and 125 pounds. I'm not allergic to any medication. I'm not sure what went wrong with Microbid but I would caution anyone before taking it.

This medication did cure my UTI, BUT I was extremely tired wanted to sleep all the time. Very weak. On day 2 I woke up and could not see. My eyes were blurry for quite some time. When I say blurry, I am saying I could not see to walk around safely. Could not see my hands. DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICATION.

Took this drug for three days. On the third day I became weak and nauseous at work. Went home to a raging three day long migraine-- the worst I've ever had in my life. Stopped the treatment and started to feel better, though my upper eyelid developed a huge swelling which was from a stye, but probably triggered from a bad response to the meds too. Would never take this again. Irony is the infection wasn't killed, so I have to take another antibiotic. My mom has taken Macrobid with horrible adverse affects to it as well.

After reading the reviews I was hesitant on taking this medication BUT it worked great. I did have pretty bad headaches but that was the only symptom. I would prefer a headache over the UTI symptoms.

I was prescribed macrobid, for 7 days. on day 5 i developed dizziness, weakness, muscle and joint aches, sensitive skin, feels like I canâ??t take a full breath without my lungs feeling shaky, headaches, hot flashes. and the icing on the cake is that i STILL have uti dysuria and frequency so I will most likely need another antibiotic after this. Some people take this drugs with no side effects and others donâ??t do so well with it. really crappy that I still have a uti though which was very mild to begin with because I caught it right away and got meds. This is the first time iâ??ve ever taken a round of antibiotics that didnâ??t work. and i very rarely take antibiotics

This antibiotic is dangerous. After being prescribed it for a UTI, I became extremely Ill. It started the first night after my two daily dose. I woke with severe flu like symptoms that only progressed over the next few nights. Severe migraine, nausea, 101 to 102deg fever that felt like my body was going to explode and chills that caused severe shaking that I couldn't control. So very scary. I could not get out of bed but somehow managed to get to my drs office. She immediately took me off it. Finally got some peace last night. And after 24 hours it's out of my system and I'm feeling myself again. I never write reviews but this was the most horrible experience and I pray I can help others from going through this. Please do not take this poison.

This seems to be an dangerous drug. I took two doses and developed the worst migraine of my life with excruciating pain in my neck and head. 3 months later the effects are still lingering. Extreme pain and stiffness in my neck which I've never had before and developed at the time of taking this horrible drug. I read the reviews after taking the drug. I should have read the reviews before taking it. There are so many similar, bad reviews.

Prescribed for a UTI. Completely took my appetite away, couldn’t even force feed myself. Stared getting extremely nauseated and soon began throwing up after only three doses. Threw up for two days straight. Horrible diarrhea as well. Then I had a migraine for two days. This medication is horrible.

My aged mother in law has taking this twice for urine infection. Second time her reaction was worrying. Severe nausea and sickness. She is 85 and this should not be prescribed for her.
