Stomach Cancer: Symptoms & Signs

Stomach cancer, also referred to as gastric cancer, is a malignant tumor that begins in the lining of the stomach.

Stomach cancer may not cause signs and symptoms. When signs and symptoms do occur, these can include abdominal pain or discomfort, belching, bloating, indigestion, nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite. Other associated symptoms and signs of stomach cancer can include vomiting blood, passing dark or tarry stools, diarrhea, heartburn, fatigue, and bad breath.

Cause of stomach cancer

The exact cause of stomach cancer is unknown, but there are certain risk factors that increase the likelihood of developing the condition. Risk factors for stomach cancer include Helicobacter pylori infection, obesity, poor diet, smoking, lack of physical activity, and a history of stomach cancer in the family.
